What else do you need to know?

What is the average return for a Stocks and shares ISA?

The Barclays 2024 Equity Gilt Study shows that over the last 130 years, shares outperformed cash nine times out of 10, over a 10-year period. Additionally, over the past 20 years, stocks returned 3.1% a year above inflation, compared to a 1.8% a year loss from cash.

Are there any costs that will impact your calculation?

Yes - account and dealing charges may vary depending on how many investments and deals you plan to make. An annual charge of 0.75% has been deducted from the projected ISA value above, so it gives you a clearer idea of potential returns.

How much should you pay into an investment ISA each month?

This depends on your financial status – how much you can afford to put away each month – and how much you want to save for the future. In order to use our regular investment service, you must deposit at least £25 per month into your Stocks and shares ISA, but many investors choose to save even more than this.
